AND THEN…THE MONOGAMISH QUESTION

Spacious, seemingly almost cloudless blue sky… 83 degrees Fahrenheit on a Friday morning walking with one of my dog friends…what a pleasure it was to sleep in, sleep late…

I am curious about the different ways my mind…moves…from thought to thought, depending on context. Is… “move”… the right word? Does the mind…move?… Are thoughts….motions… of the mind? Well, in any event, each thought is often times just a single word, and then another, or perhaps phrase to phrase, sentence to sentence, with no immediately apparent and linear connection.

That is to say, my mind would not, in those instances…intellectualize as though within the frame of an academic or even personal or lyric essay…I mean, it used to, many moons ago…not too many moons ago…These days I avoid, might even slightly fear, concentrating on a single thing for too long lest I fail to appreciate the metaphysics of an apparently, seemingly ever expanding universe! That is to say, lest I fail to observe and contemplate the universe from a more reverent, grateful, appreciative, worshipping, humbling, egoless perspective!

I think for example, one night, of the Miller Lite Beer I’m drinking. And then I change the subject.

I think of the concept “green flags.” I think of green flags in the sense of very good signs that this will be the woman I end up happily married to.

And then I think…it is late Spring, almost Summer now, early June, and the trees are all full of vibrantly green leaves and then…

…and then I think of language, I mean the word “language” and then “definition,” and then “Thingness,” and then “Subatomic particles,” “concepts” and then this phrase:…The thingness and concreteness of abstract concepts. And then… back to the word “people”… and then… and then… I think about…this beautiful and interesting lady, whom, I’d like to “get naked with” to use phrasing from the psychologist Dr. Robert A Glover…

And then I think of the complexities… of the …“human experience”…“Human condition”…as we attempt to…gain approximated insights…in the context of the space and time and motion from which such some form of…amendable objectivity (?)….is sought…hmm…do I want to get into epistemology right at this particular point in time, space, motion, consciousness?

No! Suddenly my mind… moves… again, as I contemplate Dan Savage’s coined word “Monogamish” and suspect monogamish could maybe suit me. Sometimes I have more deeply non-monogamous fantasies but…I cannot shed from my soul the desire for a so-called “primary” lover, soulmate, wife, life-mate, anchor partner…
